About Speak4Geeks
Speak4Geeks is tech explained for non-geeks: the everyday things most of us use without ever being told how they work. The cloud, Wi-Fi, passwords, cookies, AI. If you’ve ever nodded politely while someone said “it’s just DNS,” this is for you.
It comes in two parts. On YouTube, Dan and Liz tell each story in about a minute. Here on the website, every video gets its own page with the rest: the longer explanation, the sources, and what you can actually do about it.
Who makes it
Speak4Geeks is written by Daniel Gélinas, a software developer. Every claim is checked against primary sources: the companies’ own documentation, the standards, the research. Each page lists those sources and the date it was last checked, so you never have to take our word for it.
Simple doesn’t mean sloppy. When the real answer is “it depends,” we say so, and we say what it depends on.
Who are Dan and Liz?
They’re cartoon characters, not real people. They do the explaining in the videos, and they take turns: in most episodes one of them asks the question and the other one answers it.
Dan
A developer who fixes everyone’s Wi-Fi at family dinners and is delighted to be asked. Knows a lot, still has plenty of questions.
Liz
A marketer and self-taught geek who does her homework before she speaks. Proof that curiosity is all it takes.
If Dan looks a little like the person who writes this site, that’s purely a coincidence. A coincidence with the same glasses.
